This is the time of the season where new movies lease and
the first of the month really isn't noteworthy. But all of a sudden here comes
a movie called Labor Day and I thought this movie was pretty good especially
since it stars Kate Winslet.
Adele (Kate Winslet) stars as a woman who is recently
divorced and she shares custody of her son with her ex-husband. Henry (Gattlin
Griffith) her son is there to help her and learn to grow and how to forget her
painful past.
Frank (Josh Brolin) is an escaped convict who goes up to
Henry and asks him for assistance. But Henry realizes he is being taken hostage
by Frank and so is his mother. Frank is an unassuming man who just wants to
stay a couple of days at their house and then he is going to move on. Adele and
Frank take a liking to each other, and he also gets close to her and her son
Henry.
After only a few days Frank and Adele decide to move away
and Henry is excited to go with them. The local police officers led by James
Vanderbeek are on the trail of capturing Frank. Eventually Frank is captured
and Adele stays in their current home but she lets her son move in with his
father.
I thought director Jason Reitman did a great job of
directing all these characters in this movie. Of course the great Kate
Winslet's in this film is always a strong point. I also like the chemistry
between Winslet and Josh Brolin.
I gave this movie three out of four stars.
